1727 & Möbius

burning the black candles

Burning The Black Candles was a one off collaborative recording by 1727 and Möbius, across three live sessions and one reversed manipulated track. Part of the Möbius aesthetic was to try and incorporate the möbius strip into the art of all the releases, either as the logo or in some kind of altered form. In this case the logo became some kind of scroll or parchment, with the candles within the shape of it to represent the three musicians. This was drawn in dot work and inverted, so that when it was scanned in it could be inverted into light marks on black.

This was released on double cassette on Panurus Productions, in a box with the image applied to the front in gold leaf, and an art card inside with the album art and track information. You can listen to all 1727 releases here and Möbius releases here.
