Labyrinthine was a special multi label release by one of my favourite bands featuring a bunch of my favourite vocalists, so it was a pretty big deal to get to set up the layouts. I wanted to include as much of the original art as possible as well as set the Cruel Nature run apart from the others; so a bit of snipping and rejigging of the layout so it flowed together on the landscape format of a cassette J-card. I also added in an oil slick kind of colour field to the striated sections and drew up some custom text for the cover, as well as tweaking the rest of the font to get it to sit within the design. The aim here was to embellish the art using the information that needed to be on the release so that it formed a coherent image for each face. I’m particularly happy with having the altered cover design open out onto the labyrinths inside.
