An Expulsion

An Expulsion was a large form text piece comprised of a set of extreme metal lyrics written around the process of screaming, specifically in that context. These were stencilled onto plasterboard and mounted on the gallery wall as part of the There Were Islands exhibition. This is heavily indebted to Steven Shearer’s Poems but I wanted to do something as someone who makes this stuff rather than something about it, so it became this self referencing lyrical tract.

This formed the surrogate lyrics/vocals of the Render performance made in front of it as part of the exhibition.
