I think when Tommy from Kombynat Robotron approached me about putting together some art for their split with Korb the brief maybe went as far as the song title and ‘a ship’, so I had pretty much free reign on this one. Given the nature of the music, I was pretty keen to get at something organic so I went with some pretty fluid automatic line work to begin with and then fleshed it out once I’d got a rough image in place. Lapetus is the name of one of Saturn’s moons, so the planet you see in the background is a rendition of that. Scanned it all in and layered it together in photoshop with a bit of digital colouring. The background texture is a couple of scans of marbling layered on top of each other.

This was released on one side of a split with Korb (their side featuring art by Russ Brown) by Weird Beard / Psych Lovers with all the profits going to the Psych Against Cancer fundraiser. You can still pick up a digital version from the Psych Lovers bandcamp now, and the profits are still donated.
