This record was made with possibly the first Black Holes Are Cannibals jam coming out of lockdown, so felt like it had a surfacing kind of feel to it anyway and I think I stumbled across an article on beaked whales at around about the same time. There was a quote in there about beaked whales ‘being more surfacers than divers’ and that was the genesis of the idea. The image is loosely based on an image of the skull of a strap toothed whale with its particular weird denistry, but warped and shifted into a slightly abstracted crytid form. The background is some failed marbling experiments, scanned in and with the brightness dropped right down.

This was released by Cardinal Fuzz on 12 inch vinyl (I think I still have some copies somewhere actually – if you want one get in touch!)
