A bunch of posters painted up for the Horrendous + Plague Rider run. I had free reign on these so I started with the tour poster and a vague colour theme around the most recent Horrendous album and let it grow out of some automatic scribbling with the logos already in place. There’s a suggestion of a face in there but it’s abstracted enough that it doesn’t hold to the standard ‘metal’ demonic image and more suggests at it, which is something I wanted to get at for two bands that are on the weirder end of the death metal spectrum.

A similar method was used for the London image – logos vaguely in place and some automatic shapes based loosely around a half formed image of something fleshy and yellow in the dark, that was lurking at the back of my brain. A similar method was used for the Newcastle date, but with advance knowledge that Undeath were headlining so I pushed into a more gory territory with the fleshy/bloody skull image.

The Leeds date was the last one to be completed, so I veered toward something brighter in tone and came up with the acrid organic ship shown, still aiming at the metal-but-not kind of tone.

The Glasgow poster ended up not being used in its entirety due to a gig merger (though the wormy,fleshy mass does still appear on the merged poster), but was a bit of an experiment with a shifted layout, and based around automatic tendril like shapes, but constrained to a block on one side of the poster to allow for the logos.

This were all laid in various social media friendly dimensions as well the main A3 setup.
