Arkanar was a long distance recording project completed over lockdown and involved Hamish Mackintosh (Tlön, Haar, Ageless Summoning, Kildonan et al), Rick Blakelock (A Forest Of Stars), Rob Hobson (Hvíldarlauss Dauðr, Executive Distraction Tasks), and Kyle Moon (Valafar). These tracks started off with Hamish’s drums recorded through a zoom recorder and then were sent round the various personnel who added parts of the top, with Rob mixing it all.

The lyrics are very much grounded in the bleak political environment, and the band name is taken from Hard To Be A God, which also feels very tied to our bleak political situation here, despite being a Russian novel from the sixties.
