WATTS / THIRD ARM

SPLIT

This was the tape that started my relationship with Cruel Nature. Early WATTS experiments were generally with running whatever hifi system I’d scavenged into a looper and my vocal effects to generate feedback loops, and on this occasion this was through a customised turntable that I’d set up to play records at I think around 8rpm. First track the source sound is a very slow gamelan record, and the second is just the needle on the metal platter. The other side of the split was Third Arm – an occasional offshoot of Platemaker (Rob Woodcock of Tide Of Iron, Marzuuran, Disciplinary, Lovely Wife etc).

The art for this was early amorphous form ink stuff, scanned and layered over some marbling textures that I think came from the British Library flickr. Not too long after this Steve offered me some more Cruel Nature art work, and I’ve been doing bits and bobs for the label ever since.

This is long sold out on Cruel Nature, but you can still grab a download (for free!) here.
