Gathering was put together from cocoon-like forms sewn together from roughly torn hessian. These were displayed twice, and in both cases I had them suspended from the ceiling around strip lights, as if they’d grown around or where attracted to the fluorescent tubes. Packed with newspaper and with a tin of treacle upended in the innards of each one daily, they slowly oozed their ichor into the space below them across the course of the exhibition, giving the illusion of some kind of slow life.
