All the Heavens Were A Bell

Still black water as deep as forever

The first All The Heavens Were A Bell release recorded on perhaps our second session, was where the various influences came together and we decided on titles and rough direction. Recorded initially as catharsis, it has the kind of dark quality you’d expect and the project title (taken from A Funeral In My Brain by Emily Dickinson), seemed a perfect fit. Along with the track titles and suffocating submerged quality of the recordings, I wanted to get at something that referenced the idea of a looming tolling bell but in some dream like underwater, falling away or perhaps descending from above. This was done in unipin on paper and layered over some dark wash textures from some failed marbling experiments, with a bit of digital colouring.
